So in the email we sent to fanzines we mentioned that we'd like to do an annual for fanzines. First though, there are a few questions that need answering namely:
1) Do people want to do this? 2) Do we want to do it per season (ie. 2011/12) or year (ie. 2012)? 3) Would everyone be willing to send us copies of all of their fanzines that were published over the allocated period of time? 4) Money, what do we do with it? 5) Anything else I've missed?
My personal answers are:
1) Yes. It'll be awesome 2) Per season with a view to have it out before the end of the summer/towards Christmas. 3) Yes. 4) After costs are met all fanzines involved get a set percentage of the profit (ie. 3% or whatever) with the rest to be kept by The EFF. That will mean that everyone gets paid for contributing and that the EFF can then do more stuff.
Thoughts? Questions?

Just to let you know how we think we are going to do the annual currently (subject to change). We think we are going to spilt it into obvious sections ie. Satire, interviews, commentary (where we would get views on all the top footy stories of the year), culture, crisis and maybe the odd match report. We want to include every zine in the country (probably a bit romantic that idea though). We want to keep the look of each individual fanzine as much as possible so if its black and white we would print the article in black and white. We'd also ideally sell one to every household in Britain so then we all buy Bentley's.

1) Yes, though it will be difficult to include every fanzine (mainly due to getting stuff from the more disinterested zines). 2) Season, definitely. Annually is for that shitty program 'The Sky Sports Years'. 3) Of course. 4) Either percentages, or investing the money into grass roots football somehow (sponsor a kids team or summat).

Just gonig to reply to 1 and 4 here. 1) Good point about it being tough to get every fanzine involved. If you know about any fanzine that we haven't contacted then let us know. Also, once the website is going more people will hopefully want to get involved. Fingers crossed anyway! 4) Could be an interesting idea. Not sure if it'd be possible to decide on one cause... Maybe we could do the percentage thing and have an additional percentage for a charity too?

Just a thought Rich, stick a list of all the ones we have contacted so far somewhere (as a sticky?) so then people can point any we have missed out.

1) On board in principle, however worth bearing in mind that all our fanzines are generally niche to our respective club audiences and so content, no matter how great, may not be as accessible to a wider more general audience. 2) Seasonally 3) Happy to send a pdf version yes, wouldn't want to miss out on a potential sale of a hard copy 4) Donate it to a worth football related cause 5) See expanded answer to question one. Also, wasn't this done before with the 'Survival of the Fattest' series, I believe I have one of them in a box in the garage. May be worth finding out why the folk behind that ceased to produce such an anthology

That's fine though, we're not trying to make this a tome that's extremely slimlimed and all fits in together (so to speak), but have what really goes in fanzines in all its ecletic glory. As long as we make it clear in the intro and promotional material I think we'll be ok. Thanks for letting us know about 'The Survival of the Fattest' thing too, I'll have a look for it.
